The Flemish Education Council (VLOR) is the official advisory body to the Flemish Government on education policy, covering all levels from pre-primary to higher education.
Objectives
- Provide advice on high-quality, inclusive and future-oriented education.
- Bring together all education stakeholders (education providers, staff, students, parents, the professional field, etc.) within one consultation platform.
- Develop well-founded recommendations based on participation, expertise and dialogue.
- Strive to build broad support for Flemish education policy.
Operations
- Works with councils for each level of education, including the Higher Education Council, where students are represented through VVS.
- Issues policy recommendations at the request of the minister or on its own initiative.
- Organises study days, working groups and consultations on current education topics.
- Publishes recommendations, reports and analyses that inform policy and promote transparency.
