Student Services Council
The Student Services Council of KU Leuven (Leuven campus) is a parity-based policy consultation body responsible for determining student services policy at campus level, within the framework of KU Leuven's overall institutional policy. The council consists of twelve voting members: half appointed by the university and half by the Student Council, as prescribed by the Student Services Decree.
Objectives
- Ensure the policy development and implementation of student services at campus level within KU Leuven.
- Guarantee that student services are aligned with the social and cultural needs of students.
- Safeguard the budgeting, quality and development of campus-based student services.
Operations
Within the scope of the annual budget, the council:
- Prepares and manages the budget, including the allocation of subsidies and own revenues.
- Reviews and approves accounts of student services.
- Takes personnel decisions within budgetary limits, with nominations submitted to the Board of Governors.
- Develops campus-based projects and research related to student services.
- Identifies infrastructure needs for student services.
- Makes decisions and sanctions within its field of competence.
For decisions beyond the annual budget (such as major investments, reorganisations or the establishment of new services), approval by the Board of Governors is required.
