Council of Flemish Universities of Applied Sciences and Arts

The Council of Flemish Universities of Applied Sciences and Arts is the official consultation and representative body of the Flemish university colleges. It acts as the collective voice and policy actor for higher professional education in Flanders.

Objectives

  • Represents the shared interests of university colleges in Flanders.
  • Contribute to a high-quality, practice-oriented and future-proof higher education offering.
  • Develop a joint vision on education, research and societal service.
  • Strengthen the position of university colleges within the Flemish and European higher education landscape.

Operations

  • Advises the Flemish government on legislation and policy choices affecting university college education.
  • Represents university colleges in consultation bodies such as VLOR, VLUHR and governmental working groups.
  • Supports cooperation and knowledge sharing between university colleges.
  • Stimulates initiatives related to educational quality, practice-oriented research and lifelong learning.
