About Stura

Stura KU Leuven represents every student of de KU Leuven at university level, including international students, regardless whether they study at campus Leuven or at another campus.

Through its General Assembly, in which the representatives of the faculties are consulted, Stura defends the various interests of the students at KU Leuven. This mainly comes down to educational dossiers. For example, a representative of Stura participates in the Education and Examination Regulations (OER), thinks about the course of studies and the student counselling of first-year students, contributes of the policy on educational quality assurance. A possible reclassification of the academic year is also a topic discussed.

In addition to educational material, the Student Council also deals with sustainability, diversity, international and ICT policy at KU Leuven. Stura is doing all this in cooperation with the various campus councils at location and regional level – as in Bruges, Leuven, Brussels, Ghent and other locations – to contribute to the KU Leuven policy.

To defend positions voted by the General Assembly at univeristy level, student representatives of Stura are officially part of all administrative bodies of the KU Leuven. This concerns, for example, the Board of Governors, Executive Board and the Academic Council, as the most important decision-making bodies. In addition, the Education Council, the Sustainability Council, the Diversity Council and the Council for International Policy are the main advisory bodies.
